Real Inspiration: Lavish Evening at the Alexandria Ballroom
Set in the Alexandria Ballroom in Downtown Los Angeles, the gorgeous once-running luxury hotel served as the perfect backdrop for this romantic shoot!
With immaculate gold trim and dramatic high ceilings, the ballroom was a masterpiece in and of itself. To add more color and romance to the ceremony, we created an oversized floral backdrop that sat atop garland and assorted candles. At the base of the fireplace, we placed dozens of white pillar candles and sprinkled glimmering broken amethyst crystals on the floor. They reflected the candlelight so beautifully! To add a softer, more romantic, touch to the site, Found Vintage rentals provided the rich and luxurious furs.
Is it weird to that the team at SYED believes that garland can be sexy? Not at all!!
The entire shoot revolved around a moody, romantic, and lavishly dramatic color scheme. The requested color palette revolved around blush, ivory, and taupe, and we included burgundy to add more depth and drama.
Our bouquet continued the very loose and free flowing vibe of the evening and it featured beautiful dark peonies with spray roses sitting atop bunches of pepper tree. It's always so fun to create a bridal bouquet that steps out of the norm and challenges the concept of a traditional bouquet. So very unique and so very dramatic!
We were so happy to have the opportunity to include napkin treatments in this design! All too often, beautiful tabletops do not meet their true potential because place settings are forgotten. A simple sprig of pepper tree and bay laurel tied each and every place setting to the gorgeous table decor. Rachel Jane Couture did an amazing job etching the mirrored plexiglass menu cards! They came out beautifully!
We had a beautiful mixture of flowers- including garden and spray roses, peonies, morning glories, and vanda orchids to name a few. The inspiration for this shoot was born from a collision of modern and old world themes.
Our favorite part of this tabletop design- the garland of course! And we can’t help but be proud of our spectacular custom mirrored tabletop. Holding the tabletop up were two large acrylic columns which- tied with ghost chair seating- brought a very modern feel to the table.
We absolutely loved this last design element, the dessert table (and not just because of Bottega Louie's delicious treats). Here, we continued using taper candles, romantic florals, and lavish fur. What differentiated the dessert table from the dining table, however, was the beautiful greenery strung around the vintage chandelier. Yet again we continued the drama with cascading garland that reached and then flourished on the ballroom floor.
Seriously, no matter which way this dessert station was photographed, it always looks flawless!!!
